Keyword Management In Article Marketing

In the old days of article marketing, if you wrote a halfway decent article that was full to the hilt with the keyword you wanted it optimized for then you were almost assured of getting good traffic to your website. Not so much today.

I’m still convinced that article marketing is a powerful vehicle, but it has changed somewhat. How you manage your keywords is one aspect of that change.

It isn’t enough to just throw a bunch of keywords into an article and expect the traffic to come in droves. You’ve got to capture the imaginations of your readers and that means writing content that engages them. It is best to write a really engaging article then moderately pepper it with the right keywords. If you can do that on a consistent basis then you can get some good traffic to your website. But it’s not all about keywords. It’s about your reputation and keywords are your assistants.

Are Article Marketers Going To Heaven?

Article marketing gets a bad rap. It seems that many Internet marketers these days have the idea that it doesn’t work. It’s time to move on to something that does. So they abandon article marketing – a proven marketing strategy online – for something like spamming social media websites, which has a relatively low success rate for marketers.

If you believe in an afterlife then you’ve probably heard of heaven and hell. Successful people go to hell. Right?

Well, myth and legend aside, article marketing isn’t sinful. Nor is it the entrance to the pearly gates. It is, however, a good way to attract traffic to your website using indirect marketing techniques that work. The reason many marketers try it and abandon it before they see any results is because they don’t really know how to do it. You can’t just write 10 articles and call it quits. You have to stick with it over time. Otherwise, it doesn’t really matter where you go when you die. You’ll go there with no website traffic.

Give Your Articles Away For Free

One strategy that some Internet marketers have found to be successful is to package their articles into an e-book or free report and to give it away on their website for free. There are several reasons why you might want to do this:

  • You want to encourage people to subscribe to your newsletter or e-zine
  • You want to capture e-mail addresses for future marketing efforts
  • You want to build trust and credibility for your brand
  • As an effort of good will and to keep your marketing in front of their eyes when they leave your site
  • You’re nice guy/gal and it just feels good

No matter how you look at it, giving away your articles for free is a good way to build trust, credibility, and good will. And it keeps people coming back to your website because they want more.
