Press Releases – Social Media – and News Sources
Where do news organizations, editors and writers find the information for their news stories these days? The Internet. There is a lot less leg-work in journalism these days. The Internet provides them with resources that were not possible just a few years ago.
Another impact the Internet has had on offline newspapers and magazines is that it has cut into their profits and they do not have the financial resources they once had.
That means they have to use the Internet to find more sources, opinions and information to add to their news stories.
A lot of people don’t know whether to use blogging, article marketing or press releases to get their information out there so publishers and news organizations and others will help spread the word.

Can You Promote Articles Through Twitter?
Article marketers are always looking for new ways to promote their articles and their websites through articles. Twitter has gained in popularity over the last couple of years and from what I can see it appears to be entering into a hey-day period where it will grow fast and furious. In that regard it is likely following in the footsteps of Facebook. But if you are an article marketer, can you use Twitter to promote your articles?
Yes, you can. There are a number of ways you can promote your articles through Twitter. Here are a few:
- Sign up for EzineArticles’ Twitter notification through your author stat panel
- Install Twitter Tools on your blog and upload articles as blog posts
- Whenever you distribute a new article, send a link tweet
- Send a DM to your followers and ask them to retweet your original tweet
- Ask friends in your social networks to tweet your article
- Send a request to your favorite blogger to tweet your article
- Republish your articles on your own website and every 7-10 days, tweet the articles page
- Tweet your bio page at article directories you use

Some bloggers have replaced their blog with Twitter. I say keep your blog and use Twitter to add new readers to your blog. Make Twitter a part of your marketing funnel.
How Many Websites Can One Article Promote?
Can you promote more than one website with each article you write? You can, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Your articles need to be focused. You are allowed up to three links in the author resource box of your articles at most directories. Some directories only allow two links, but that’s OK. You only need to promote one website. If you promote more than one website with any one article then you will likely get fewer click throughs.
When I create an author resource box I include two links to the same web page in two different ways:

By using both the URL as a hyperlink and a key phrase that I want to target I ensure that my website is known when a publisher uses my article on his or her website or in her e-zine. Some publishers do not activate the links. If they do then I get relevant anchor text in a back link. If they don’t then my URL is still visible to readers of the article. Not as effective, but at least the reader knows who wrote the article and how to find me.
The only exception to the one website rule is when I want to promote my website and my related blog. Sometimes, for marketing purposes, it is prudent to put your blog on a separate domain name. In that case I’ll promote both the blog and the website, but that is a special situation. Otherwise, it’s one website, Baby.
