Keyword Management – How To Improve Your Articles With Fewer Keywords
Keywords, keywords, keywords. Everyone knows what they are, but very few article marketers really know how to make them work. You don’t want to stuff your articles with keywords. Too many article writers are doing that. Instead, you want to stuff your articles with great content and pepper that content with the rose doses of keywords.
What’s that mean exactly?
There’s no optimal keyword density. Let’s just shatter that myth right now. There are good articles and there are lousy articles. Most articles online today are lousy. But just a little bit of work can turn most of those lousy articles into good ones. But how?
First, stop putting your keyword into every sentence. That doesn’t help. If you can’t write a good article without keywords then you’ll write a good one with keywords. The most important thing for any article you write is for it to be a good article with valuable content aimed at your target market. Keywords are there for optimal performance in the search engines.
I’m not saying don’t include keywords at all. I’m saying use them sparingly, but aggressively. Make sure every instance of your keyword counts. Instead of using your exact keyword phrase every time you plop one down, alter it just a little so that you give a variation on the keyword. The search engines will still recognize it as a keyword and your human readers will enjoy the article more. It’s called semantic language optimization, or semantic search metrics. Whatever you call it, it works.
Press Release Writing And Article Writing Have A Lot In Common
Press release writing and article writing have a lot in common. You can actually get a lot of short term benefit out of press release writing, if you do it right. When you sit down to write your press release, think about what you want to get out of it. Who is your press release targeted to and what is it promoting? You’ll have to do some keyword research to find out what the best keywords are for promoting the event that you want to promote. Don’t skip this step because it’s one of the most important parts of the writing process.
Just as you would optimize an article for maximum marketing effectiveness, you also want to optimize your online press release. It isn’t enough to just write a press release that markets your event. It must be optimized. Remember, people will find your press release in one of two ways – they’ll either conduct a keyword search and pull up your press release based on the keywords that you use, or they’ll find it through a topical search on the press release distribution website. Either way, your press release will need to use the proper keywords to be found.
Today’s press releases are not so cut and dry as writing it down and sending it to the newspaper or TV station of choice. You really want to make sure you target your release to the right people. Otherwise, you’ll just be sending words into a vacuum.
Do You Understand Article Marketing?
Ken Nobo Doesn’t.
I found this lousy article online recently:
I’m going to show you one wicked article marketing strategy to give you an edge over your competition. Everybody wants to be in a front page of Google and I’m going to show you exactly how to do it.
First-year article needs to be in a high ranking webpage. For example if your are article marketing on EzineArticles then you are in the right place because Google loves EzineArticles and the article will be ranked on the first or second page of Google, even for competitive keywords.
Is this guy serious? You’ll be ranked on the first or second page of Google just for submitting an article to EzineArticles? You mean, it’s that simple? Oh, and even better, even if you use competitive keywords. Wow, what a bargain.
Taylor Tip: Your first clue that you’ve landed a whale of a sheister – he promises you first page listings on Google. Second clue, he sweetens the pot by telling you something stupid like “even if you use competitive keywords.” I’m sorry, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll end up on the first page of Google, or any other search engine, if you do anything – even if you use competitive keywords.
Just for giggles, I Googled this articles title, “Article Marketing Strategy – How To Have Your Article Place On The First Page Of Google,” and how funny it is that it’s not on the first page of Google. I scrolled on down to the second page. Guess what, it wasn’t there either. So I thought I should Google the author’s name – Ken Nobo. So I did. Nope. No first or second page listings for this article. Trust him now?
Probably the most important thing is Keyword selection in your article title. What you want to do is use Google’s adwords Keywords external tool. (google it, it’s free). That tool of gives you an idea of what people type in Google to find out what they want.
This is actually a good suggestion. Google AdWords’ keywords tool is a great tool, and it’s free. And you should select keywords that are popular and profitable. Given, right?
Plus it shows the monthly search volume So you have idea on how popular the key word is.
For example, let say the keyword is “Article marketing strategy”. Then you would want to place Doles keywords in your headline.
Uhm, “Doles?” Incoherent sentence. If you know what he’s saying there, kudos to you. I do article marketing and I couldn’t figure it out. Perhaps you should use a ghostwriter who can make sense of his sentences.
For example: “Top-five article marketing strategy, tips”. You would also want to sprinkled the keywords a couple of times in the body of your article. So Google thinks that it is relevant to the person’s search inquiry.
“So Google thinks …?” How about so that it is relevant. And “a couple” of keywords in your article isn’t going to cut it. Maybe it will for a 300-400 word article. But if your article is a 700 word article then you probably want it 5-7 times. I use this general rule of thumb: Once in the first sentence of the story, once in the last sentence of the story, and once per paragraph on average.
When somebody is using article marketing and they rank first place on Google because they use the proper keywords on the title. And they get rich as a result, because people usually click on the first and second and third link when they type something in Google.
Taylor Tip: A sure sign of a sheister is he promises you riches. No one gets rich because they had one article appear on the first page of Google. Article marketing must be done on a consistent basis over time. People who make a lot of money doing article marketing get consistent results form article marketing over a period of time. Hey, who are going to believe, me or a guy that writes in sentence fragments?
So used his article marketing strategy to your advantage. And you’ll be glad that you did because it works. However note that not all the time you will be ranked first place on Google but you can pretty be darn close to it.
Nice disclaimer there at the end. It works, but you won’t rank first in Google every time. The truth is, you don’t have to rank first at all. In fact, you don’t even have to appear on the first two pages of Google for your article. The goal of article marketing isn’t to rank in Google. The goal is to broaden your marketing by writing articles that position you as an expert in your industry and that get other webmasters and e-zine publishers excited about you. They will then publish your articles in their publications and you will get the traffic from their websites and e-zines. It helps if you understand article marketing in the first place.

How To Write 10 Articles In One Hour
“Traditional” writers don’t understand. They ask me, “How do you write that fast? Your articles can’t be that good.” The fact is, I write better articles than most writers who only write one article per hour and charge $50 for it. Here’s how I do it.
- I’ve got my list of keywords already planned
- I write all 10 articles on the same topic using related keywords for each article
- I do all of my research for all 10 articles at the same time
- I focus all of my writing energy at one time on those 10 articles
It’s a very simple recipe. I focus all of my energy on one task at a time. First comes the keyword research. Without keywords, it doesn’t matter how many articles you can write. You’ve got to choose your keywords and make sure they are relevant to your topic. After doing my keyword research, I pick the best keywords for my topic and decide which articles I’ll write with those keywords in mind. Then I do my research, targeting the research around the keywords that I’ve chosen.
I can do research for 10 articles in about 30 minutes using this formula. Much of the research that I’ll perform in any given area will be relevant to a handful of articles. Sometimes I can use the same information in several articles as long as I write about it differently enough and use different keywords so that the information and sources do not appear too similar. It’s easy if you know how.
After the research phase, I start writing. I can write a 500-700 word article in six minutes using keywords as anchors. I know beforehand how many keywords I need for each article. I just make sure that I sprinkle the keyword throughout the article without overdoing it and write a decent article about the topic. I can do that 10 times in one hour, and I’m betting my left arm you can too.
Title Envy: Treating Your Competition Like The Neighbor’s Kid
Do your titles shine? Do they get the click? Do they make your competition mad? If not then you need to rewrite your titles and re-distribute them.
A good article title should do three things:
- First, it’s got to spark an emotion. Your article readers should read your title and laugh, cry, scream, fall out of their chair, or be evoked into some action – hopefully to click and read the article.
- Secondly, a good title gets the click. Why else would you write a title? You’re not showing off your pet poodle at the county dog show. You’re distributing articles so that you get readers and visitors to your website. The attraction starts with your title.
- Thirdly, it must give you some link juice. Search engines love keywords. Put your primary keyword in the title of your article. It will do more than any other SEO strategy to get your article ranked for the keyword that you are targeting. That doesn’t mean to stop there – optimize the article too, but good article optimization begins with the title.
If you do those three things with your article (spark an emotion, get the click, and rank high for your keyword phrase) then your competitors will get so pissed off they’ll ban your website from their employees. Breaks your heart, doesn’t it?
Just keep in mind, when it comes to writing damn good article titles, it’s as easy as 1 – 2 – 3:
1 – Emotion
2 – Click
3 – Keyword
And your competition will develop a bad case of title envy for which there is no cure.
