Know Your Ends: Having a Performance Goal for blogging

The best blogs are written when the author is passionate about the subject and wants to share their knowledge as well as gain feedback from readers.

The author can throw a well-written post into the blogosphere and simply fuhget-abawwt-it (that was a reference to The Sopranos, folks) and nothing will ever come of it. Two things must happen for the post to be successful: the blog should inspire comments from readers, and the author must continue the spark of interaction.

So the blog is written and the author must now wait (or hope) for a comment. Finally, someone responds with a completely different opinion, and there’s the spark! The author should take into consideration that reader’s viewpoint, analyze his previous beliefs, and respond accordingly.

Even if you’re passionate about your topic, when blogging, not being a complete expert in your topic could actually benefit you. The new questions and ideas suggested by your readers may change your perspective and add to your knowledge.

Affiliating with other blogs in your industry can allow an already established network of followers to find their way to your site.

By knowing your ends and having a performance goal in mind, you can discover the best means to write interesting, thought-provoking posts that engage your audience to make a personal connection with you.

Student Interns: The Real World Experience

As new interns at Curved Marketing, Shannon and I are quickly learning the importance of kinesthetic learning. Hi, I’m Kayla and I’m the newest intern at Curved Marketing and although I’ve only been here for a day, I can clearly see how the projects here pertain to in-class material. And to think, all this learning actually serves a purpose!

When I first walked into the office this morning, everyone was busy with their individual tasks, yet they dropped what they were doing to welcome me and make me feel at home. To start off the day, I learned how to evaluate article submissions through an article submission website. We quickly had to evaluate the articles based on relevance, format, and content and decide if the submission was accurate.

In school, we are required to write term papers and stay focused on the course topics while maintaining the reader’s attention. I felt that the skills that we have consistently learned during our scholastic careers have prepared me to analyze the articles effectively through the perspectives of both a student and a professional writer. This connection between two different mindsets answers the question that students have when struggling to get through a long school day: How does all this learning apply to me?

The learning styles in classrooms are primarily visual and auditory. Whereas here, the third type of learning style, kinesthetic, is utilized in order to apply the classroom material that was learned to relevant situations. It’s no longer about memorizing a bunch of facts; it’s about putting what you know into action. And that’s what the whole internship experience is about, right?

At the office, we’ve been thrown into the action with no field experience, and I feel I will benefit greatly because my skills are becoming more rounded with the experience. I just wonder what kind of professional I will become as I acquire more experience before I walk the stage at graduation.

Many people who are looking to advertise and bring attention to their business, think that building a website is the final marketing strategy needed to generate more customers and awareness for their business. Why limit yourself to one website, when you can have an endless number of websites marketing to your potential clients and audience all the time.

Internet Marketing from a new, fresh perspective

As a new member of the Curved Marketing crew, I’ve embarked on my journey known as, internet marketing. What does internet marketing mean to me so far?
