I just would like to know about other users and their experience with article marketing.
My own experience is that it really does help link popularity, branding, and even brings in direct traffic.

yes it does… it just takes time and consistency.
I would say it definately works. I submit 6 articles per week to ezinearticles and have seen a massive benefit.

I agree on the remark about consistancy especially. You can’t just do articles when you feel like it. You need to set a number you are going to do each month and do them.
The way I used to do it is I would say I am going to do 4 articles per week. If at the end of that week I had not written all 4, I would have to hire someone and pay them to write the rest. That was my cost for not getting it done.
If I wanted to save money, then I better write my articles, but either way, 4 articles were going out that week.
