There are article directories and article directories. Article extreme is one of the best for the following reasons.
1, All submissions are checked for relevancy. Cut 'n pasted gibberish will not be admitted.
2, As part of the weeding process, articles not submitted to the correct sub-categories will be declined for re-submission. This is because...
3, This article site is as niche concentrated as possible. After all, who wants to find articles about tropical fish fungus cures in a section of articles about debt consolidation?
4, This tight acceptance control has made this one of the fastest growing article directories around. We now can boast over 1,300 members since we launched in October last year.
5, Our growth is about as organically viral as you can get. A bit of word of mouth, a bit of a Digg now and then, and absolutely no paid advertising. Already our Alexa ranking is under the 300,000 mark, and the associated blog has a totally unexpected Google page rank. It's low, but it's quick even for Google!
So, pop over and join the family at http://articleextreme.com

I agree with most of this, a well written article.

I too have been running my Article Directory for a while and it does drain much time, at first I was letting everything through as I was overwhelmed but in the end I am just deleting anything that at first sight appears to be wrong, give me 4 consecutive lines of filler and it goes into the bin.
I still have many articles to go through but I am clearing house.

Yet I am ok with whatever grammar or lengh they can manage, so long as they give me INFORMATIVE CONTENT.
I want stuff that makes the reader feel like they have found what they were searching for.

I am firstly after a proper heading to draw me in, a summary to expand on what I will find in the article and then I expect content to satisfy what was promised in the heading.

But it might not be enough.
For instance I KNOW that this little blurb I just written for you will attract way more visitors than 100 of my own articles just because it is unique content.

I know this because you can have static sites with just 5 static pages but if the copy in it is freshly written then they'll quickly get traffic, way faster than what my Article Directory manages to do.

Still, it's all good to try till you find a good balance.

I know the compliment was meant for Bill, but I also appreciate when people hand submit their articles to my directories too.
