Free Marketing Should Come Before Paid Clicks

I believe that when you are entering a new market you should start out with article marketing. If you have to write good articles about a topic or subject, you have to do research. The research you do will help you find pay per click ad space that is empty and you will be the only one advertising in that space.

It always blows my mind the number of webmasters who start a website and immediately go to pay-per-click advertising or other paid advertising methods before exhausting the free marketing alternatives available to them. It’s not that I have anything against pay-per-click. I don’t. I just believe in getting for free everything you can before paying good money out of the pocket.

Article marketing works. That’s why people use it. And there are so many free methods of marketing online that it just doesn’t make sense to throw money out the door on PPC until you’ve exhausted them. Here are some free online marketing methods you should use before resorting to pay-per-click:

  • Article Marketing
  • Blogging
  • Social Bookmarking
  • Podcasting
  • Video Marketing
  • SEO
  • Forum Posting

Naturally, not every one of these methods are for everyone, but everyone can pick out two or three of these methods to employ before spending money on PPC. You should at the very least incorporate good SEO, article marketing, and blogging into your marketing strategy before you spend a dime on PPC. After you’ve been successful in these free marketing methods then you can go full force with your pay-per-click marketing. When you do start paying for clicks, your effectiveness will be a lot greater as a result of your success with the free marketing methods.

Before you turn to the usual pay per click strategy, it would be wise to exhaust all free online marketing techniques you can use over the web.
