Article Writing Tip - Your Overall Approach

In learning about public speaking I came acroos a great way of explaining how to structure a speech. I find that the same structure works for articles as well.

1. Tell them what you are going to tell them.

2. Tell them.

3. Tell them what you just told them.

The beginning paragraph should summarize what the article will be about.

Then you tell your audience what you planned to tell them in the body of the article.

Then you summarize what you told them in the last couple of paragraphs of the article.

This helps the information stick in the reader’s mind. The structure above is a simple way to plan your articles.

Hope that helps.

What do Santa Clause, The Tooth Fairy, and Valuable PLR Content Have in Common?

I just love a good headline, but the only thing those three things have in common is that none of them exist.

Yes, I know it’s Christmas and we shouldn’t talk bad about Santa, but picking on PLR articles is fun so I can’t pass that up.

PLR stands for Private Label Rights. There are a lot of marketers who sell PLR articles through squeeze pages, long sales, letters, touting the benefits of article marketing and telling you that PLR articles are the way to make money and build link popularity.

They may as well tell people that PLR content sures cancer, makes certain body parts larger, and helps you find real estate for no money down.

They write one article on a topic and sell that article to hundreds of people for pennies. They tell you to edit the article a little and it will be original content.

I know some of these gurus will hate me for it, but I have to tell you that there is no truth to that whatsoever. It will not be original content unless you rewrite it from scratch. If you did that, you may as well write it in the first place.

Use copyscape.com to check your content against other content found by google on the web and you will see that you have not purchased original content.

PLR articles are duplicate content, pure and simple. Use them at your own risk.

Rating Your Articles

This is one of the most overlooked aspect of article marketing. Maybe you submit through isnare.com or maybe you use automated article submkission software or you manually submit your articles.

Article directories supply free content to webmasters and bloggers. Your content with your links in the resource box. We all know the goal of article marketing is to get these bloggers and webmasters to use your articles rather than someone else’s articles, right?

Well, many article directories have a feature that allows people to rate articles on their website. Many of them have a search feature or another way for bloggers and webmasters to find the highest rated articles in their article directory.

After you submit your articles to all of those directories are you going back and giving them ratings? Do you have someone that can go rate them for you? You may want to think about voting or rating the articles you submit so they can let the cream rise to the top.

How do you know where all of your articles are if you are using isnare.com or another distribution service? Read this about tracking your articles or set up google alerts for each one of them.
