Can Articles Affect Your PageRank?

Due to Google’s recent PageRank update, some people might feel like bench warmers because they saw their PageRank fall. If you found yourself in this situation you might find it useful to know that articles can boost your PageRank. So you can actually prepare for the next PageRank update by implementing your article marketing strategy right now.

Articles affect PageRank in two important ways. First, a little about what PageRank is:

Google instituted PageRank in 1988 to measure website trust. Based on Google’s philosophy of linking, which said that website owners link to other websites because they like them and trust them, Google decided to make inbound link quality a major factor in determining PageRank. But they also look at on-page factors as well. If your outbound links and internal links are relevant and not broken then you build trust for your PageRank score as well.

So what are the two ways that articles build trust? By providing website owners a way to build quality inbound links to their website and by giving website owners useful content to put on their websites that will build trust.

Here’s how it works: You write an article and submit it to several article directories. Those article directories are not your primary target. You want publishers related to your niche to pick up your article and publish it - on their website, their blog, in their newsletter, and wherever you might find targeted traffic related to your niche. Every time one of these related website owners or publishers uses your article you get an inbound link from a relevant website. That is a trust building factor.

If you put your articles on your own website then you also encourage people to link to you because if your article is worthy anything - that is, it provides valuable content - then people related to your website will want to link to it. That’s another trust building factor.

Thirdly, your article content itself is useful in building trust among your target audience.

Article marketing works. It drives traffic, builds trust for your website, and can be used to increase your PageRank. All it takes is a little hard work, a good strategy, and the drive to pursue it.

What is Article Marketing?

By now, a lot of Website Owners have learned the term Article Marketing, but what is it really? Why do I need to do Article Marketing? How will it help me? Even many of the writers who ghostwrite for clients do not truly understand article marketing. They are good writers. They even may know a little about SEO and can put all the keywords and phrases into your article. But do they really know about article marketing and what the benefits are for their clients? Do you? Let’s see;

Choosing an Article Writer; Previous experience writing for magazines and newspapers does not qualify a writer to write articles for article marketing on the web. Wait let’s back up a minute. Are we saying that someone who writes for the New York Times or Newsweek would not be qualified to write articles for article marketing? While it would likely qualify them to write impelling and engaging copy, that is not enough for article marketing.

What about Search Engine Optimization Experts? Are they qualified to write articles for article marketing? SEO experience is very helpful, but it is the combination of good writing skills and SEO knowledge that is important to article marketing. They must be able to write an article that engages the reader while using keywords and phrases that are targeting the search engine spiders. Not everyone can do this without the article appearing to be full of keyword spam.

So if a person is a good writer and has SEO experience, then they are qualified to write articles for article marketing? Nope, still not enough. A person who also has sales experience in addition to SEO and writing skills is the best person to choose for your Article Marketing Campaign. Click here for Qualified Article Writers

Benefits of Article Marketing There are thousands of people using Article Marketing as a tool for building link popularity on the web today. probably 90% of them still have not grasped the concept of what article marketing is really about. There are even Article Marketing Ebooks being sold and distributed all over the web that entirely miss the point. Unfortunately people read these and get on the Article Marketing bandwagon without knowing where it’s going.

Isn’t Article Marketing just where you have articles written and then you distribute them to thousands of article directories so you have a bunch of links from the author bio pointing back to your website? Nope. That isn’t it. That is what you read in the Ebooks I was talking about. There are many ways to use Articles as a tool to promote your website and distributing the articles to all the article directories is only a means to an end for one method. The article directories are just one of the tools you use to help you reach your real goals.

What about Articles that are distributed to Article Directories? Articles written for mass-distribution to article directories is one method of Article Marketing. While the article directories that reprint your articles do link back to you through the links placed in the resource box or author bio section, these links are not really that valuable. Some even become supplemental pages in Google due to duplicate content issues and them being from article directories rather than Websites or Blogs that are related to your topic and keywords.

The real value of article marketing through mass-submission to article directories is not realized until months after the initial distribution takes place. The real purpose behind article directories is not to help you with your link popularity. Those who are in the article writing business tend to forget that. The real purpose of an article directory is to provide free content to webmasters and bloggers.

When a webmaster or blogger reprints your article in their blog or website you benefit from that much more than the submission to the article directory. They would not likely have chosen your article if their website or blog was not about a topic related to your own. The links from just one of these blogs or websites that are related to your topic are more valuable than all the links you got from the article directories.

What are other ways that articles can be used as a tool to promote my website? One of the biggest benefits article marketing can have is as an image builder. If you want to be known as an expert in any field, you should be distributing articles about your subject or industry. When someone searches Google for your name, you want them to find hundreds of articles written on the topic you chose for your expertise. This creates trust in you as an expert and can help you close deals.

Another way you can use Article Marketing to promote your website is to have Premium Magazine-Quality Articles written for you. These polished articles can contain images or even audio and video. Placing these quality articles in a page on your own website will attract more visitors. It may be the reason they bookmark your website or submit it to DIGG or one of the other social bookmarkeing websites. This can have a viral affect where your link popularity increases daily due to people referring others to read your article.

Another option is to take this well-written article and offer it as exclusive content to a website that has a high Page Rank in Google and a lot of traffic. You offer the content to them exclusively in return for a link back to your website from the resource box. One well-written article on the right website can be much more valuable than twenty articles you mass-submitted to thousands of article directories.

Article Marketing Summary Article Marketing is a necessary tool for doing business on the web. it’s that simple. If you want to build your image, increase your link popularity, improve your search engine results, get more traffic, and make more sales, you should be involved in Article Marketing. We can help you by becoming your Ghostwriter and Article Marketing Consultants. You can choose Articles for Distrubution or Premium Magazine-Quality Articles for your own Article Marketing campaign.

Author Resource Box: How Many Links Is Enough?

By allen on October 27th, 2007
Posted in Article Writing | No Comments »

I’ve heard all kinds of responses to this answer. Some people say use the maximum number of links possible in your author resource box. Others say use just one. I think it really depends.

The first rule of thumb with article author resource boxes is to only include information that is relevant to your article. For instance, if you run a dog kennel, an IRS tax preparation service, and a day spa and you write an article about how to save money on your taxes then you want to include the fact that you are the owner of an IRS tax preparation service. You don’t want to mention that you own a dog kennel or a day spa. On the other hand, if your article is about how to groom your poodle for show then you would want to mention that you own a dog kennel but you should leave out the IRS tax preparation service and the day spa.

I think the reason for this is obvious. People interested in one service won’t necessarily be interested in the other and it could actually ruin your credibility with your target audience to mention non-relevant interests. But that tells us nothing about links.

Based on the above principle, of course, you can reason that unrelated links should be left out of your author resource box. Don’t link to your dog kennel website in an author resource box attached to an article about the health benefits of a day spa. But what if you own a day spa and a massage parlor, two related businesses?

You could provide a link to both business websites in an article about general health and wellness tips. But should you? I’d say you shouldn’t IF the two businesses are separate businesses and not related to each other by legal status. On the other hand, if you have a business website and a blog that represents the same business entity then you probably do want to include a link to both websites. The reason is because some people will be threatened by the website, which they know will have a strong sales pitch, but they might be interested in reading what you have to say on your blog because it is viewed as less threatening.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. But the principles that I use in determining how many links should go into my article author resource box are these:

  • Are the links related to the article content?
  • Are the links related to each other?
  • How much space is alloted for the author resource box at the directory or website it is being submitted to?
  • Which website am I more interested in driving traffic to?
  • What is my target audience and how will they perceive each link?

These are all important considerations and very important when deciding what links to put into your author resource box. Generally speaking, though, fewer links is better because people are less likely to click through to any website if they have trouble deciding which link is most attractive.

Create Articles Out Of Press Releases

By allen on October 22nd, 2007

Remember that press release you wrote last summer and distributed to several press release directories? Remember how much money it made you when several industry news websites published it? Well, your special may have ended, but that doesn’t mean the press release has lost its value. You can turn into an article and republish it.

The first thing you need to remember about articles and press releases is that they are targeted to different audience. The press release is written for media personnel who will help you promote your business and give you added exposure to your target market. The article is written for the consumer of your product or service, the person you are trying to attract business from.

Why not take the same material that you put into your press release and rewrite it into an article? It’s less work than writing an article from scratch and you can use the same information. All you have to do is take your press release and extract anything that would not interest the end user of your product then rewrite the rest of the press release in such a way that it would be more interesting to the people you want to do business with. If necessary, add a little bit more information to flesh out the article a little more. After your press release has been reworked into a solid article, you can distribute it to several article directories so that the people you are targeting can benefit from it.

Pen Names and Aliases

A lot of authors use a pen name or alias when writing. The practice is completely acceptable, but what are the pen name strategies you should be using?

Pen name strategy? Sounds strange hunh? We have Internet marketing Stategy, Blog Marketing Stragy, PPC Strategy, and a number of other things that requiore a strategy, but a pen name strategy?

Yes. Many of you have more than one business and more than one topic you write about. I have heard clients that say they use a different pen name for each topic because if they put out articles on a lot of topics and all under the same pen name, they feel people will not think they are focused on just their topic.

They feel that these potential customers will view them as a jack of all trades and an master of none.

This is sound reasoning right? For some people it might be the answer. It only applies to people that find your articles by typing in your name or your pen name though.

Most people find your articles due to the generic search terms you used in the article. So when they find your article about chrome reverse muffler bearings, they have no idea you also wrote an article about the use of blinker fluid in 2007 mercedes benzes.

The use of several pen names also makes your branding more difficult. Your name or the pen name you choose is just like a brand. You want a lot of search engine results for your brand. If you try to promote 10 different brands, you will be less successful at branding than someone who only promotes one brand.

Using the same pen name all the time gets you more search results for your brand. Choose whether or not you will use your name or you will use a pen name and stick with it and you’ll soon see thousands of results for your brand.

Now, for larger companies, this advice might not apply. You don’t want your employees using their names on articles they are writing to promote your buisiness.

What if they quit? What if you fire them? You alloowed them to brand their name to your company. It can be messy.

So for larger companies, you need to create a fictional name. A fictional author of all articles you write or have written for your company.

The better method is to use the owner’s name if the business is owned by one person. But even CEOs leave comnpanies, so you don’t want it in their name either.

SO you see? There is really such a thing as Pen Name Strategy. remember you heard it here first. :)

Article Submissions - Is Manual Submission Better?

With article submissions I don’t believe manual submissions should be done for every single article you write or have written. For most articles I think isnare.com is just fine. The article is submitted to a lot of publishers for you for just $2 per article if you do it yourself. If we do it for you, it’s just $4 per article.

But every now and then you write an article or have someone write the article and it is especially good. An article you are very proud of and want to share it more. Then manual submissions to high PR article directories is a plus.

It is important that you use an article submission service you can trust, so we have listed a few ways you can submit articles to directories where you can be sure your links and author bio are always included and that your article is actually submitted and received by article directories.

Be sure to submit your article to our own Article Directory in addition to the options you choose below. Google crawls our Article Directory daily!

Article Submission Options

Manual Article Submissions.

We manually submit your article to as many article directories as you choose for just $1 per submission, using your pen name under our own existing accounts.

We manually submit your article to as many Article Directories as you choose for just $2 per article, if you want us to set up an account for you at each article directory for you to use whenever you need it..

In either of the above options, you will receive a spreadsheet with full details. The link to the article directory we submitted your articles to, the date, and logins and passwords if you chose to have the premium article submission service where we created accounts for you.

The best single way to submit articles is by going to each article directory, creating an account, and manually submitting your articles to the directories. You can do this yourself. However, it is a tedious, time-consuming process you have to repeat for each article you write. In addition to that, each article directory you submit to may start emailing you . . . umm . . . “offers” for all kinds of things you may not want to buy. The good news is we can do this for you. We already have accounts set up for this purpose. Use the form below to contact us.

Isnare’s Article Distribution Service According to Isnare.com, they send your articles to over 150 article announcement/distribution lists. For around $2 per article, you can submit your article through Isnare.com. If we do this for you, we charge $4 per article. I use Isnare on all of my own articles. I use the manual submission for my best articles.

Contact us using the form here for help with article submissions.

Newsletter Articles Can Increase Your Web Page Views

Posted in Newsletters | No Comments »

One way to increase your article views is to include them in your e-mail newsletter. If you publish a weekly newsletter you can use one article per week and send them out to your readers. The best way to increase page views for your website is to publish the first paragraph in your newsletter with a “read more” link at the end of it. Publish the rest of the article on your website and make that page the source destination of your “read more” link. Readers of your newsletter will click the link and read the rest of your article on your website.

Increase your newsletter subscriptions by putting a link to your opt-in form at the end of the newsletter with your anchor text reading, “this article was originally published in XYZ Newsletter.” People who find the article in the search engines will subscribe to your newsletter so they can get future articles just like that one.

Article Writing - Key Phrase Optimization

By admin on October 14th, 2007
Posted in Article Writer Jobs, Article Writing | 2 Comments »

Ok, I have to review a lot of articles that are submitted to my article directories and those that writers send me as samples of their work. Those applying for a job as a writer want to impress me with their ability to optimize the sample article I give them for the key phrase I assign.

In doing so they send me a sample where every sentence begins with the key phrase. Or one sentence ends with the key phrase and the next sentence begins with the same key phrase.

There are a lot of webmasters buying this type of content on the web. They think that the number of times the key phrase is in the article is way more important than the actual content and the article’s readability.

Because these webmasters BELIEVE they know about seo and article marketing, they request this keyword density as if it is the most important thing.

Then writers that are new to the web and who want to please their customers do as they have been asked to do. After all the customer is paying for it. So give them what they want right?

Wrong. I may be a total pain in the butt, but my clients know that when they request something and I don’t agree with it because I know it won’t help them, I speak up and let them know how they could benefit more by doing it a different way.

Being a yes-man is not what these clients need. They need someone who spends time to learn what does or does not work and who will advise them on the best approach to seo or article marketing.

Write the article for the reader first and seo second. you will find that you will naturally include that key phrase where it is appropriate to do so. Read it over after you finish and see if there is a spot or two where you could have added the key phrase without the article being spammy to the reader.

It can be done. Our writers do it all the time for our clients. You can too.

Website Content Writing Service

The content on your webpages affects your search engine positioning, the number of links to your website, and your sales. Can you afford poorly-written content?

There are a lot of writers out there who can write a decent article, but not many writers that know how to write good, original website content that is optimized for your keywords and phrases while still appealing to your potential customers. The text content is the most important part of each of your webpages for many reasons;

1. SALES: The text content is what your visitors will read when they find your website. It has to be interesting and informative. It also needs to guide the reader where you want them to go. Getting a reader to click the “buy” button or the link you want them to click on is our goal. It is the website content that will do that, not the pretty design and graphics.

2. LINK POPULARITY: If the content in your website is well-written, original, interesting, and informative, people want to bookmark it and they want to link to that content from their own websites. Organic Link Popularity can easily be achieved with well-written, original content.

3. SEARCH ENGINE RANKINGS: Again, good, orginal content comes to the rescue. Search engines do not rank you well for your keywords and phrases due to the pretty design or graphics you have in your webpages. The search spiders or bots read the webpage content to decide if that text is relevant to your chosen keywords and phrases. Your website content must be informative and interesting as we stated before, but it also needs to be optimized for the keywords and phrases that will bring you more traffic from the search engines.

We Write Your Website Content For as Low As $40 Per Page, including meta tags if needed. Use the form at the bottom of this page for a free quote!
